What is part of gynaecological screening?

Cancer screening is used to recognise changes and diseases at an early stage - often before you notice any symptoms. The earlier an abnormality is detected, the better the treatment options.

Medical history and counselling

Every check-up at our gynaecological practice in Munich begins with a detailed consultation. We take your medical history, discuss your situation and address any issues that are of concern to you.

PAP smear and HPV test

The PAP smear test is a painless examination for the early detection of cell changes in the cervix. Women between the ages of 20 and 34 receive a PAP smear once a year. From the age of 35, the HPV test is carried out in combination with the PAP smear every three years - this combination also offers a high level of safety for early detection.

Palpation examination of the breast

From the age of 30, palpation is an important part of breast cancer screening. At every cancer screening, we examine your breast for lumps, hardening or changes.

Palpation of the uterus and ovaries

The gynaecological palpation examination enables the early detection of changes in the uterus and ovaries - important for the prevention of ovarian cancer and other diseases.

Ultrasound

In addition to palpation, ultrasound reveals changes that may not be palpable.

Further examinations if required:

  • STD test
  • Urinalysis
  • Bacteriological smear test (bacteria, fungi, chlamydia)
  • Breast ultrasound for unclear palpation findings

Screening examinations by age

Cancer screening from the age of 20

  • Medical history with gynaecological examination
  • PAP smear for the early detection of changes in the cervix
  • Counselling on contraception and the desire to have children
  • Discussion on all topics relating to gynaecology

Extended provision from the age of 35

From this age, the smear test is no longer carried out annually, but every three years in combination with the HPV test. These intervals are based on medical studies - the combination of both tests offers greater safety. The health insurance company covers these tests in full.

  • Gynaecological examination continues annually
  • PAP and HPV test every three years
  • Advice on hormone status and menstruation

Prevention from the age of 50

  • Mammography screening every two years (health insurance)
  • Counselling on menopausal symptoms

More than just prevention - your MVZ in Munich

In addition to cancer screening, we support you in all phases of life: from contraceptive counselling and pregnancy care to the treatment of menstrual pain, vaccinations and determining your hormone status.

Hormones play a central role in our speciality. If you have irregular cycles, no periods or unclear symptoms, we can determine and analyse hormones in your blood. This hormone diagnosis is a self-pay service that we will discuss with you individually.

We are your point of contact for all women's health issues.
